THREE OLD MONK POEMS (347)
WHAT YOU KNOW
What you know
you know
is useless
if you don't
want to use it,
the old monk said.
~
LEANING ON
Leaning on your walking stick
doesn't get you up the mountain.
And it doesn't make you holy,
the old monk said.
~
YOU NEED
You need so much
rain for the flowers,
so much moonlight
on the pines,
the old monk said,
so much silence
in the evening.
